Your action demonstrated every aspect of the definition for Hero yet your sole purpose was just to help the people who are suffering. Brave and professional are your signatures. What an honor to live on the same land with someone like you. Aotearoa and the rest of the world will be with you, forever.

This brave man in Beijing, China protested the dictatorship of the CCP and Xi Jinping on 13 Oct 2022. He was arrested and jailed immediately by the regime. On his banner:
No more endless covid tests, for we want to work.
No more draconian lockdowns, for we demand freedom.
No more lies, for we demand dignity.
No more "culture revolution", for we demand economic reform.
No more dictatorship, for we demand democracy.
No more slavery, for we demand to be citizens.

真正中国好男儿
- A tribute to all the men and women who refuse to bend their knees to authoritarianism in China!

Pastel on Matt board, 60 x 40 cm, 2022

In China, the strict " Zero covid" policy has caused a  humanitarian crisis. Ordinary civilians are forced to line up and queue for hours for daily covid tests. Without negative results, people are forbidden to go to work, shop for food and are even denied treatment in hospitals. Recently a 14-year-old girl in RuZhou fell critically ill and later died of high fever due to neglect as a result of draconian lockdowns. Many suicides and deaths from starvation continue to happen because all close contacts of positive covid cases are being locked up in their homes for weeks. There are no human rights and dignity in China under the Chinese Communist Party.
